I suspect the expectation for me today woud be more of this blog’s usual line of politics. But I think I have made my position on this country’s piss-poor reaction to 9/11 perfectly clear in the past. Instead of going off on that again, I present a deeply political poem, though perhaps not in the way that many of the poems that appear here are political.

…after all, you see gay people everywhere, you absolutely hate them, and, of course, you have no sense of humor.

I know I’m shocked.

Wednesday night I was flipping radio channels, and caught the end of this address from Paul Nelson (Discovery Institute fellow to the Calvary Church of Albuquerque. His tripe is about what you would expect: he says the best evidence for ID is that a single cell turns into a baby. Yup, that’s high quality argument. As always, the DI arguments are rehashed creationist bullshit. The only real argument is from incredulity: we don’t know how x happens, therefore god the designer must have done it.

Of course, this standard would kill science and rational inquiry. We’d still be worried when it thundered that Zeus was pissed. But that doesn’t stop the DI, oh no.

And he finishes his talk by explaining that ID isn’t about religion because he’s never mentioned God. Yup, that’s right. He’s giving his talk to a packed Fundamentalist church which advertises it as a great chance to proselytize evangelize, but it’s not about religion at all. And the fact that the DI is packed with Christians and a token Jew is pure coincidence.

Remember folks, if you don’t know how it happens, God did it. Except remember not to call him “God” as long as non-believers might be listening. Because then they might realize you’re a lying sack of shit.

Today’s topic: which religion is the one true faith? September 7, 2006

The guys on the Daily Show might not agree, but they do find some common ground.

In unrelated news: sorry for the lack of updates. So-called “real life” has hit me hard recently, but I’ll keep this blog up and post whenever I can.
