Will of the voters be damned, we’re Republicans! December 12, 2006

The Republican leadership in Kansas’ Johnson County has picked fired AG Phil Kline to serve out the remainder of the term for the vacated seat of County AG. So, Kansas voters overwhelmingly reject the man–including voters in JC–and the Republicans respond by giving him the very job that, at the state level, he was booted from.
This is very good news, as it will serve to remind Kansas voters of why they dumped this idiot and his cronies in the first place. Kline will be as much a disaster as County AG as State AG, but fortunately he’ll be able to do less damage.
Let’s hear it for the far right, who don’t care if they lose! After all, when you’re getting marching orders from God, what does a little thing like Democracy matter?
hmm.. I believe this was his position prior to being State AG.
I would like to know how Morrison got the job post Kline, and how Kline got it the first time.
This might not be a voter issue :)
Morrison was elected as a Republican to the position, and switched parties to unseat Kline. The republican leadership got to pick his replacement, since he ran as a Republican originally. They’re within their rights to select him, of course, but it’s not a classy move.
ok.. so it wasn’t an issue of voters being ignored, i.e. unless you wanted the Republicans to pick a Democrat for the post?
I wanted the Republicans to pick the other Republican nominee–you know, the guy who didn’t just lose an election while receiving only 35% of the JC vote. I think the Republicans showed contempt for the voters and even their own party by picking a hugely unpopular choice.
And thus your right to vote Democrat or any other party but Republican :) Cheer up mate, if you can convince enough others to do so, then it should (as you said) be “very good news”.
After all he’ll have to run for relection in that democracy that we do have :)
[...] noting that Phil Kline, the former Kansas AG who was humiliated in his attempt at re-election then given the job as Johnson County DA when Kansas Republicans decided to be more overt than usual in gi…, has seen his trumped-up attempt to shut down Planned Parenthood receive yet another setback.
