More discussion of Book 7 below the fold, including spoilers from the other books.
There’s an interesting piece in the New York Post (of all places) about theories for Book 7. I agree with a number of points: Snape was almost certainly in love with Lily, he’s likely to die in the Deathly Hallows, and he’s definitely innocent. I think Hagrid is rather likely to die in Book 7, and that Neville might (though I think this is somewhat less likely).
And for those of you who believe otherwise: the dead ain’t coming back. Unnaturally avoiding death is something only evil people do in Harry Potter, and there’s no reason to believe anyone ever “comes back.” The door might seem normal, but it’s a one-way trip.
That doesn’t mean the dead won’t figure in this book, though: they will. Dumbledore knew what was coming in Book 6, and certainly had plans for it. He can still communicate with Harry through the Pensieve, at very least. And there might be more to the Mirror than we realize, though I wouldn’t necessarily trust what it says.
Expect to see a very heroic death by someone other than Harry (though we might see it from Harry as well). Like his parents’ generation, Harry and his friends are up against something incredibly dangerous, and the casualties won’t be limited to rivals in the Triwizard tournament and adults–not this time. As was demonstrated by many of the adults in the novels, selflessness is the primary advantage the goodguys hold, and victory will only come through sacrifice.
Also, if I were Ginny Weasley, I’d be very worried.
Ah, the impending end of the (HP) world.
It’s enough to make a guy become a Draco/Seamus ’shipper.
:-(
Draco/Seamus?? That’s a new one on me… (Not helped by the fact that I thought of Seamus the Dog first… Lizard Queen needs sleep…)
oh, the horrifying things one can find via the Intarnet. :-(
