Fear the Gay Penis, Nazi Concentration Camp Edition May 15, 2007

Jim Burroway has an excellent piece up about homobigot and anti-gay “researcher” Paul Cameron’s praise for Nazi tactics in dealing with homosexuality. Take a look; it’s well worth reading. Burroway has great analysis of Cameron’s Nazi-praising rhetoric, so I’ll deal with one other aspect of Cameron’s argument, one that makes his real motive painfully obvious:
Apparently [Rudolf] Hoss considered homosexuals to be active recruiters. Indeed, his experience in the camp suggests that if left with other prisoners, the homosexuals would eventually break down the resistance of others so that they would engage in homosexual behavior. Recent experience has confirmed that homosexuals in prison often offer to “service” other men, telling them they can pretend that they are with a woman while they provide them with oral sex. The same thing occurs in pornographic movie houses.
You can almost taste his fear of being “converted” to homosexuality. I particularly like his concern with just how gay it makes you if another man is the one doing the sucking.
These experiences put the lie to the whole “born that way” claim or the notion that one’s sexuality is fixed after puberty. Clearly, homosexuals could and did “convert” at least some of those with whom they were housed and at a sufficient level for Hoss to consider it an “epidemic.” Hoss believed that homosexuals were so brazen that they could not be treated “like everyone else,” even in prison! While most kinds of punishment did not keep some of these addicts from persisting in their homosexual ventures, if dealt with severely enough and in isolation even those addicted to homosexuality could be managed.
Note the fawning approval of Hoss’ analysis and methods. Most people might not simply take a genocidal Nazi at their word about conditions in their own Camp, but Cameron would sooner believe a Nazi than a gay man, so of course he doesn’t bat an eye.
And what conclusions does he draw from this “study” which provides “insight about the “containability” of homosexuality, at least under a dictatorship”?
We can certainly feel sorry for those who are so trapped by their vice that they cannot get free. On the other hand, if society were forced to accommodate the behavior of hard-core homosexuals, how many other lives would be damaged, perhaps irreparably? True compassion dictates that we not only attempt to keep those who are bent on self-destruction from reaching their demise, but more importantly, that we protect others who might get caught in the same wake of misfortune.
Poor Paul Cameron: he is far more obsessed with homosexual sex than just about anyone else, including those engaging in it. Every word seeps with fascist plotting, homophobia, and fear that he might one day end up in prison or a bathhouse and be “seduced/raped” by a gay man.
One can only wonder if that frightens him, turns him on, or both. Certainly it is clear that Cameron is a very sick man who needs a lot of help overcoming his overwhelming hatred and blind bigotry.
