The next time someone tells me that most abortion opponents aren’t mysognist assholes, but just have a genuine disagreement with those of us who favor bodily autonomy, I’m going to smack them with a herring. A smelly, old, disgusting herring.
Let’s be clear, wingnut fuckheads: providing poor people with the means to make their own reproductive choices isn’t like the nazis, it isn’t a holocaust or ethnic cleaning or class warfare or racist. It’s not only the right thing to do, but it’s sound public policy, saving money and allowing families to make their own decisions about if and when to reproduce.
It is seriously astounding to me that we’re allowing crazy people who are far, far outside the mainstream to dictate policy in this way. Rational people are in favor of providing health care, including family planning, to those who don’t have the means to provide it for themselves. It’s the moral choice, and the economically reasonable one.
And seriously, why would Obama lift the global gag rule and then allow his party to be bullied into withdrawing support for domestic family planning? And all for Republicans who wouldn’t support Obama’s stimulus package if it cost 35 cents, included tax cuts and provided good homes for abandoned puppies.
The mind boggles.
I hear u, but MY & your taxes shouldn’ be funding it(Abortion) in foriegn countries.That money coulda,woulda,shoulda been used domesticly, or if the “mexico city policy”as it’s been coined, could be ammened for other medical reseach only,such as for Cancer or AIDS, Diabetes,etc,etc. .(see my letter to PRES. Obama also in w.p. blogs)
The US Government isn’t funding abortion in foreign countries. Obama changed the rules that kept any US funds from going to any international agency that so much as discussed the possibility of abortion.
I have nothing to say other than: amen!
