Let’s see: racist, sexist, anti-choice, and makes light of torture. That’s pretty impressive for one cartoon.

whoa. Where did this come from?

2. John Awner - January 30, 2009

“Racist, sexist, anti-choice, and makes light of torture?”

I don’t think so. I think it’s a pretty accurate depiction of the current state of affairs.

Evil Bender - January 30, 2009

Dear Mr Answer:

You might think it’s accurate, but you’re wrong. Mr Obama, and the rest of us who favor reproductive rights, find forcing women to have abortions every bit as abhorrent as forcing them to give birth. Would you care to explain what you think is “accurate” about this?

3. imayvomit - January 30, 2009

Wow, this is actually the most offensive thing I’ve seen on the internet all day – and this is the internet.

4. Ty - January 30, 2009

Sorry, Imayvomit, but John Awner’s idiotic follow up was actually even more offensive.

5. Evil Bender - January 30, 2009

Ty:

I tend to agree, which leads me to an intellectual quandary: is it more offensive to knowingly affirm another’s lie than it is to state the lie in the first place?

6. tinyfrog - January 31, 2009

Reminds me of The Onion’s editorial cartoons (for example: http://www.theonion.com/content/cartoon/jun-09-2008). Except, I think this artist was serious.

7. 14_year_old_girl - October 20, 2009

it’s not ok to talk about the man that runs the country (and might i say is doing a darn good job at it to be new and all) . I’m 14 and i know thats wrong no man has the god given right to tell a women that she can’t give birth. And he isn’t making anyone hes just giving the opp shin.

8. prolifeforlifeforever - October 25, 2009

well. you all sound like liberals to me. abortion is wrong and obama is pro abortion. life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness was given to us. its also cover in the bill of rights. whats the difference of a split second of birth? no, a child is a child, even when they are the size of a dime. a woman may have control of her body. but the child inside of her isnt her’s to kill. why doesnt she just get a gun out and shoot her grandma while she’s at. so u may have the argument of rights to a woman. but go google “baby david” abortion. or google image abortion alone. i wept at the images. at 7 weeks the baby had fingers and toes. so i disagree with this comic. obama doesnt shove white women into abortion clinics. but he allows them to get shoved in there by boyfriends, fiancees, husbands, family, and friends alike.

Evil Bender - October 25, 2009

you all sound like liberals to me

You’ll find that’s not an effective insult around here.

abortion is wrong and obama is pro abortion.

That’s not an argument.

life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness was given to us. its also cover in the bill of rights. whats the difference of a split second of birth? no, a child is a child, even when they are the size of a dime. a woman may have control of her body. but the child inside of her isnt her’s to kill.

That’s closer to an argument, but it’s an argument that relies on equating a cluster of cells which cannot survive on its own with a child, so it’s not a very good argument.

why doesnt she just get a gun out and shoot her grandma while she’s at.

I sense a lack of serious engagement here.

so u may have the argument of rights to a woman. but go google “baby david” abortion. or google image abortion alone. i wept at the images. at 7 weeks the baby had fingers and toes.

None of this even approaches an argument.

so i disagree with this comic. obama doesnt shove white women into abortion clinics. but he allows them to get shoved in there by boyfriends, fiancees, husbands, family, and friends alike.

Interesting that in your view, a cluster of cells is the same as “grandma,” but a woman has no rights and is just pushed around by others. You’ll find that among those who “sound like liberals” suggesting that women can’t make their own decisions won’t get you very far.

9. l hate Obama - October 26, 2009

Evil Bender, you’re a dork.

10. Jenny - November 5, 2009

This comic is just ridiculous.

Prolifeforlifeforever:
Argument failed. Don’t compare granny to a “cluster of cells”.

“obama doesnt shove white women into abortion clinics. but he allows them to get shoved in there by boyfriends, fiancees, husbands, family, and friends alike.”

Who are you to say they’re not walking into the clinic themselves? It’s the fault of the Big Bad Men right?

“or google image abortion alone. i wept at the images.”

Your feelings of sadness aren’t enough credence to an argument.

Evil bender: Thank you

John Awner:

And where do YOU live?

11. DRB - December 2, 2009

No Evil Bender,

What is racist, sexist and anti-choice is the 38 years of killing over 50 million white, black, Asian, Chinese, etc., male and female human beings who are not even given a choice!

Your “choice” KILLS someone else! And one person’s choice should NOT mean the killing another!

Obama is the most radical pro-abort POTUS, who also believes in leaving babies born alive from botched abortions to die! That is called INFANTICIDE!

I hope all of you anti-life people get fixed because ignorant uneducated people shouldn’t breed! However, since ignorance is also a “choice” I suggest Evil and your readers all google a medical and scientific website called The Endowment for Human Development and learn something! Those “cluster of cells” are the LIVING BLUEPRINTS of a unique human being with a beating heart!!!!!!

12. Evil Bender - December 2, 2009

Dear DRB,

Interesting that you think embryos are both a person and a blueprint for a person.

Also interesting that you refer to those who disagree with you as though they’re not people–people aren’t generally “fixed.” I guess your concern for humans only extends to fetuses.

Please feel free to contribute again as soon as you can muster a coherent argument.

Kisses,

EB

Dear EB,
I love your response DRB. Thank you for that.

15. Kiwi Girl - December 11, 2009

To DRB & Prolifeforlifeforever;

It is not just us “anti-life” people that are ignorant & uneducated. “Prolifeforlifeforever” isnt exactly the most educated name, considering it is repetitive. Also, it isn’t just cold-hearted sluts looking for a short term fix. There are also intelligent, loving INDEPENDANT women who get abortions, not just because the baby was unwantes, but because the pregnancy might be life endangering to the mother, or other similar reasons. Deny it all you like, but it’s true. Some pregnancies can be lethal.
That was what happened in my case. My partner & I chose to abort our baby. It was a distressing choice to make, but it had to be done. I love that baby, but I do not regret our decision. I wish the circumstances could be different though. However, we are now expecting a healthy baby girl.
If you’re “pro-life” what about the mothers life?? Does it not have any value to you??

16. urbandaddy - December 30, 2009

The comic is offensive.

A person has the right to choose to live their life the way they want. No one has the right to tell them what to do with their bodies.

If “society” didn’t exist and a woman didn’t want a baby she would give birth and leave it to die.

It’s not about pro-life or pro-choice. IT’s about looking after yourself first and foremost and if someone tries to tell you what to do, tell them to f&%k off.

Just my thoughts.

But the comic was mean.

17. Moe - January 12, 2010

Obama was born at a time and place when/where abortion was illegal would we have our current Prez had things been different… just putting that out there

and to Kiwi Girl I must say i do agree that in some cases such as yours abortion should be an option and i can respect your decision but i cannot agree that all cases should and that it should be a choice as i do i myself was an inconvenient pregnancy because, hey, not everything is good or evil

to evil bender concerning your [third response?] A i don’t think that prolifeforlifeforever meant “you all sound like liberals to me” as an insult, B learn to use quotation marks,
C
“‘life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness was given to us. its also cover in the bill of rights. whats the difference of a split second of birth? no, a child is a child, even when they are the size of a dime. a woman may have control of her body. but the child inside of her isn’t her’s to kill.’”

“That’s closer to an argument, but it’s an argument that relies on equating a cluster of cells which cannot survive on its own with a child, so it’s not a very good argument.”
everyone here was and technically speaking are still basically a “cluster of cells” don’t try to deny it, and as for not being able to survive on it’s own,
a. try a different use of words, “cannot survive on its own” can be interpreted as many things a 0 to 2 year old toddler probably “cannot survive on its own” [
b. if it can grow up to look like your species, has the same chromosome number of your species, and the same DNA as your species is it not a member of your species?

D
“why doesnt she just get a gun out and shoot her grandma while she’s at.”

“I sense a lack of serious engagement here.”

Do you seriously consider this an argument? (S)He’s saying that both
are human and deserve to be treated so.

E
“so u may have the argument of rights to a woman. but go google “baby david” abortion. or google image abortion alone. i wept at the images. at 7 weeks the baby had fingers and toes.”

“None of this even approaches an argument.”

Yes it does, (s)he is trying to show you abortion.

F
Concerning your last argument that i can see, DRB said “living blueprint” and not just blueprint and (s)he is wrong that is called DNA the baby is the start of the construction

and now the way i see the cartoon
this is the way i see the cartoon, BE HALF OF AFRICAN ANCESTRY is inviting an unsure pregnant lady into an abortion clinic and ENCOURAGING her in by making it more available.

18. Kiwi Girl - January 18, 2010

Good points Moe. Nice to see some unbaised reasoning.
Just to clear things up; I agree that unnecesary abortions (i.e. unwanted babies) are horrid things, & late term (after 12 weeks) abortions are completely evil. I cannot see the reasoning behind aborting a baby so creuly when it can survive outside it’s mothers womb (most medical facts indicate that this is after 24 weeks). However, as with most things, there will always be a few understandable cases.
Oh, & update on the baby girl, unfortunately I miscarried due to a deformity.
